An Evening with Sean Godsell, Books Kinokuniya, Tuesday, 12. November 2019

Join us for an evening with award-winning architect Sean Godsell as he discusses his new book with fellow architect Stephen Varady.
Sean Godsell is one of Australia’s most respected architects. His stellar career and visionary designs has established him as an architect of global influence. 2019 marks the 25th anniversary of Sean Godsell Architects which was established in 1994.
Sean Godsell: Houses is a survey of his residential architecture between 1996 and 2018 and features twelve houses and dwellings across Australia on a range of scales, from large country houses to mini urban projects. Each house is illustrated with full-colour photography and the architect’s hand-drawn plans and exploratory sketches, illuminating how each house connects to its surrounding landscape.

About the author:
Sean Godsell was born in Melbourne. From 1986 to 1988 he worked in the London office of Sir Denys Lasdun, returning to Australia in 1989, where he established his own practice in Melbourne in 1994. In 2013 he received the AIA Victorian Medal and William Wardell Awards for the RMIT Design Hub. He has received the AIA’s highest award for residential architecture, the Robin Boyd Award, twice – first in 2006 for St Andrews Beach House and again in 2018 for House on the Coast.
Stephen Varady is an innovative and respected Australian architect, designer, writer and educator.  Born in Sydney, he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree with honours from the University of New South Wales in 1987, and a Masters of Architecture degree from RMIT University in Melbourne in 2002.  He is a registered architect in NSW and a member of the Australian Institute of Architects and was appointed Creative Director of 2006 RAIA National Conference.
Stephen has been a lecturer and design teacher since 1985 in architecture and design schools at Sydney University, University of NSW, UTS, Newcastle University and at RMIT University in Melbourne, and has lectured extensively around the world.  Stephen is also an architecture critic, writer and photographer, with writings published in Architecture Australia, Monument, ar, inside and the Sydney Morning Herald in Australia, as well as AD and World Architecture in the UK.
Stephen has been principal of Stephen Varady Architecture since 1987.
