CRARC Amateur Radio Foundation Licence Course March 2020, Scout Hall, Saturday, 14. March 2020

For anyone wanting to get into the Amateur Radio world, the CRARC Foundation Licence Course covers many of the core concepts required to get into Amateur Radio, and optionally provides Australian Maritime College (AMC) accredited assessment to get your licence.
What you’ll learn.

the basic practical technical skills to operate commercially manufactured radio equipment, with a focus on ensuring safe and non-interfering operation.

the required practical operating procedures to use your amateur radio licence on air and ensure efficient and legal use of the amateur radio spectrum, these fall within the amateur radio licence.

The basics of electricity, transmitters, receivers, feedlines, antennas, propagation and electromagnetic radiation.

No prior learning is assumed or required for this course.

Most of the Foundation Course learning follows closely "Your Entry to Amateur Radio" ( Foundation Manual), available as an optional extra as a part of this course. This does not need to be studied prior to the course, but can be invaluable during and after the course as a reference. When you register and pay for the course and manual, the Foundation Manual  will be available on the day of the course. All participants of the CRARC Foundation Licence Course may choose to do the AMC Assessment to gain their amateur radio licence. 
Australian Maritime College Assessment Fees (AMC) as of 1st April 2019,

Foundation Assessment Including Practical Assessment     $90.00

Level1 Next availiable callsign recomendation                         $25.00

Level 2 Selected callsign recommendation                                 $35.00

All AMC assessment Fees are paid by EFT to AMC prior to the assessment or by Cheque or Credit Card paid to the assessor on the day of the assessment. (NOTE cash will not be accepted).  Before commencing an assessment Photograhpic identification is required in the form of a driving licence or the like.
Please note, the Foundation course is run by volunteers from the Canberra Region Amateur Radio Club who generously give their time, we reserve the right to cancel/postpone the event if attendance does not gain a minimum of four participants.

New Licence  Fee   $80.00
Licence variation Fee $51.00
Licence Renewal Fee $55.00
NOTE If you successfully pass the assessments, AMC will issue a certificate of proficiency and forward your licence application to ACMA. (Fee paid on line after an emailed invoice from ACMA) 
The Course operates across both Saturday and Sunday, starting at 8:30am sharp and wrapping up around 4pm.
 Registration close ten days before the course start date.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
There are no minimum age requirements for the course, ages approx 12 and above are encouraged to attend.
