Creative Writing - The Gratefulness Gazette, Livingstone Shire Council Community Centre, Sunday, 22. September 2019

We are so excited to present two collaborative creative writing workshops in September. Our theme is The Gratefulness Gazette! Our fabulous creative mentor Kristy Kruse will be facilitating this event and we are calling all budding writers, sketchers, young and young at heart to come together and compose a collection of positive readable art! Kristy’s love for creative writing flourished at a very young age and she is passionate about sharing this love and being creative any way one – Sunday 15th SeptemberCreate the Gratefulness Gazette. Assist in setting out the gazette with the pre-planned patterns (certain sized paper to make the gazette collage). Conjure your creative drawing skills for some light hearted cartoons, pen your personal positive quote, maybe a fictitious weather report, a love letter, a happiness word puzzle, pass on your favourite recipe, or pour out the poetry from your heart. There is no limit to your imagination and dependent on size and time frame you can do more than one piece. Dictionaries will be available to encourage self-editing. Stationery will be provided. If you would like to bring your own pens and pencils, feel free. We will also be scanning the final product to give you a digital copy to share with your family and friends, so colour can be used in your work. The Gazette will be collated and copied by the mentor and available in hard copy at Workshop 2 – 1 copy per person (black and white). The digital copy will be emailed upon completion of workshop 2.
Week two – Sunday 22nd SeptemberWrite a positive story to include in the Gratefulness Gazette. Share a memory from your childhood, write about an inspiring friend or person you know, maybe tell us about a holiday or special time in your life, or go completely fictitious. These stories will be capped at approximately 100 - 300 words dependant on age and experience. There will be plenty of assistance for youngsters with grammar and punctuation. Activities will include looking at sizzling story starters, discussing genres and how to best captivate our audience. We will encourage adults to help nurture younger participants and to proof read and edit each other’s work. Stories will be gathered and scanned with the gazette and distributed to attendees via email
