In this presentation, Dr Abbey MacDonald will invite you into a visual story that asks you to consider how our schooling system currently serves teachers, students and communities.
Calling on her experiences as an Arts practitioner, educator and researcher, Dr MacDonald will articulate some of the challenges teachers are encountering as they grapple with disciplinary silos and education agendas that elevate some disciplines at the expense of others. 
Dr MacDonald is an award-winning early career researcher and Senior Lecturer in Arts Education at the University of Tasmania. She brings to all aspects of her work a strong personal focus upon Arts advocacy, teacher empowerment, community engagement and multi-stakeholder collaboration.
Dr MacDonald is Vice President of Art Education Australia.
