Lunar Harvest: Biodynamic and Organic Wine Masterclass Dinner (Sydney), Folonomo, Thursday, 05. September 2019

If someone told you that filling a cow’s horn with dung and planting it at a certain phase of the moon would help your vines to grow better, you’d probably think they were nuts! As crazy as it might seem, many winemakers are now starting to see the move towards biodynamics and organics as not a choice but a necessity to sustain the quality of wines they produce.
We are over the moon to show 6 leading organic and biodynamic producers from around the world. Starting with an aged Chenin Blanc from South Africa’s first biodynamic estate Reyneke, to Christophe Mignon, who has been a great proponent of biodynamic viticulture in Champagne, one of the most difficult regions to practice biodynamic farming. The refreshingly original fourth gen Austrian winemaker Christian Tschida, whose wines have made it to some of the world's top restaurants like Eleven Madison Park. He didn’t achieve this with a trendy Insta account, cute labels or by hiring harvest interns and as a result his wines are far from the undrinkable funk commonly associated with ‘natural wines’. From Austria to Australia we showcase some of our very own leading biodynamic producers like cult Barossan winemaker Fraser McKinley of Sami Odi, who handcrafts only a few thousand bottles a year.
Whether or not you think it’s all just hocus pocus, taste for yourself six world class organic and biodynamic wines matched perfectly with a six course banquet made with seasonal produce by Sydney’s first not-for-profit restaurant Folonomo.
