Self-Care 101 for Early Career Teachers - Brisbane, Independent Education Union, Monday, 23. September 2019

The early years of teaching bring some of the greatest challenges: settling into a new profession, prioritising tasks, building professional relationships. One aspect of managing your early career that is often overlooked is taking care of yourself.
This session will share practical tips on dealing with the day-to-day stress of being a teacher, advice on knowing which tasks require immediate attention and which ones can wait and ideas about managing your self-care both inside and outside the classroom.
The session will also explore how to support students with additional learning needs -- including students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Presenter Anne Artesi is an experienced teacher who has worked in both primary and secondary schools. Anne is currently a Middle Leader with responsibility for the Religious Education department. Prior to her career in education, Anne worked in both private and government organisations in the fields of quality assurance and risk management.
Session attendees will receive an attendance certificate that can be used as evidence of certified professional development for registration purposes.
