Super Blue Blood Moon (Total Lunar Eclipse) - Free Event, Australia, Wednesday, 31. January 2018

The GDC Observatory in conjunction with Astronomy Education Services will host a free, community event to observe the Total Lunar Eclipse on 31st January, 2018 at Hertha Reserve, Stirling WA .
Hertha Reserve is located across Cedric Street from Stirling Civic Gardens. Its also across from the Stirling Train Station.

Guests are encouraged to use public transport to the event.

This will be the second Full Moon for January (aka A Blue Moon), plus the Moon will be at a close approach to Earth in its orbit (aka A Super Moon) and the Moon will move into the shadow of Earth causing it to turn a Coppery/ Orange colour (aka A Blood Moon).

This means we'll observe a;

"Super Blue Blood Moon!"

There will be telescopes, a large screen broadcasting an image of the Moon as it enters "Totality" and talks/ lectures throughout the night. Don't forget to bring your phone so we can snap an uber-cool image of the eclipsed Moon for you!

Not to be missed, come along and join in the Lunacy!
