Whether you’re interested in watching a Miyazaki film in its original language, or talking more with locals beneath the cherry blossoms, on the ski slopes or in the bars in Harajuku, Japanese is one of the most popular and delicate languages to learn today. We invite you to spend a few hours every week in Japan with us, to learn the language of Murakami, Yamauchi, Hanae Mori, and Pokémon. UNSW Global courses are designed to create opportunities for real-life communication practice and connect you with other people who share your interests. Taught by highly qualified native speakers on the UNSW Campus Kensington, evening classes can provide you with the means to achieve fluency in your target language. Did you know: –        Japanese has three different writing scripts: Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji! –        Writing in characters gives you an entirely different way to illustrate your ideas – learn Japanese and unleash your creativity. This course runs from 6:30pm – 8:30pm every Thursday evening for ten weeks. Can I continue to study Japanese after this course?Yes! Following the course, you can enrol in the next level in the next term. We have four terms every year based on the NSW school term dates. What course book do we use?You will need to purchase a copy of the course book:  Marugoto Starter A1: Katsudo: Coursebook for communicative language activities and Rikai: Coursebook for communicative language competences Textbooks should only be purchased after confirmation is received from us. This usually occurs up to 2 days prior to commencement. This book is available at the UNSW Bookshop on the main campus. How big are the classes?Class numbers can fluctuate, but we keep a maximum of around 18 students per group. Is there a minimum age?We welcome students from 18 years and up and often have very mixed age groups in the class. How do I know if this is the right level for me?Our 1A level classes are designed for students who have very little, to no, Japanese at all. It is a Beginner level course. What’s the course cancellation and refund policy?UNSW Global reserves the right to cancel this course if necessary and will contact you as soon as practicable if this is required. If we cancel the course, you will get a full refund. If you cancel the course, refunds depend on the amount of notice.
